The anus in both men and women is a highly sensitive area. Some people have an aversion to being stimulated anally, some can take it or leave it and yet others may find anal stimulation very exciting, either with tongue, finger or penis. Anal stimulation is typically something either partner may find exciting once they have already become aroused.
Hygiene factors
Obviously the prime function of the anus is not associated with sex, consequently it’s very important to be clean. If a man penetrates her anus with either finger or penis he should make sure he washes himself before penetrating the vagina or he may cause an infection.
Physical factors
The anal passage does not naturally self-lubricate in the same way as the vagina. It’s important therefore that the man uses a suitable lubricating gel, or she may find anal sex uncomfortable. There are two anal sphincter muscles, one under voluntary control, and one involuntary.
The woman will need to feel relaxed and aroused in order for her anus to relax and be penetrated. A man should therefore make sure she is very highly aroused before attempting anal sex, and push in very slowly and gently, giving her time to adjust to the presence of his penis.
Anal sex and orgasm
Some women find anal sex extremely arousing and exciting. It’s quite possible to give a woman an orgasm, several orgasms and even a continuous multiple orgasms through anal sex, particularly if the man fires off other orgasmic triggers at the same time.
Anal sex: damage and infection
The anus can be damaged more easily than the vaginal walls so the man should take care not to be so rough that he causes damage. Over vigorous thrusting with minimal lubrication will cause her to be sore and mean he’s “not invited back again”, so guys, take care. There is also the increased chance of infection, particularly if the anal walls are damaged during sex.
